Panasonic's new HD100 and SD100 Camcorders

Panasonic introduces two new HD camcorders namely HS100 and SD100. It is said to come up with a new technology that handles low lighting. The 60 GB/SDHC HS100 and the SDHC-only SD100 cameras are enriched with the new sensor technology called 3MOS. This technology replaces the CMOS sensors with the 3CCD arrangement.

Some of their common features are full 1920×1080 recording, Dicomar lens which are Leica-made, 12X optical zoom and HD Advanced Pure Color Engine. The HD Advanced Pure Color Engine is used for image processing that not only doubles the dynamic range but also drops noise. You can click pictures in shadowed as well as brightly lit areas.

The Panasonic HD100 camcorder as well as HS100 video record in AVCHD (H.264), offers 7 hours and 40 minutes of video recording on the HS100 and an hour on an 8GB SDHC card that can be used by both the cameras.

Panasonic HD100 also features HDMI 1.3, edit video using pre supplied HD Writer software. Without using extra software, it can be used with iMovie 08 and similar-generation Apple video editing tools.

The Panasonic HS100 and SD100 camcorders (with 8 GB SDHC card) will be priced at $1100 and $1300 respectively. They are said to hit the markets in September.
